Back at the palace, Bai junhao tells Lingbo that he's been ordered to deliver a message to the two of them. He's excited to be back in the country, but he also wants to make sure that he doesn't get caught in the middle of a rebellion. He asks Lingbo to help him put the fire out so that they don't have to stay in the palace for too long. He wants to know where the eighth princess came from, and why she conspired with bai-junhao to overthrow the empress and force the queen to abdicate. He also asks if she likes him, and she says no. He tells her that when he was a child, his mother kept him and Lingbo away from her. When she grew up, her mother always kept them away from each other, so they never got to know each other very well. They were best friends, he says, but now they can't talk to each other because of the princess. They can only talk to the princess, and he asks her if she knows about the rebellion. She says she does, and they can make a deal. He says he'll tell her when the time is right.
