The sixth prince arrives and tells Ling'e that the rebels are preparing to counterattack. The duke has secretly amassed weapons and the prince in charge of the army, the second prince, has taken control. The fifth prince comes in and says that he has a plan. The plan is to kidnap the princess and hand her over privately to his brother.
