The next morning, the Ming brothers discuss the events of the previous day. Ming tries to convince the empress that he's the one who saved his brother, but she doesn't believe him. She tells him that the letter she intercepted from the rebel spy was the one that saved him. Ming tells his brother that he should be careful of the women in the city because they're spies. He also tells him to be careful with his younger brother, who's in the middle of a scandal of his own. The Ming brothers decide to meet Ming at his old villa, which is now in disrepair.
