In this chapter, we learn that Shum-Liang has been captured by the kidnappers, and that he has been taken to the ice-cream factory to make the magical drink. The ice cream factory is in the middle of making the drink, and Shum's guards are about to go in to do the final preparations. Shum asks the guards where he is, and they tell him that he is the one who is responsible for the capture of Shang and the others. He tells Shum to take the antidote, or else he will pass out among the ice cream workers. He then asks Shum if he remembers when he and his sister were young, and he tells him that the kidnappers wanted a hefty ransom, but Shum left his sister behind and ran away alone. He says that he kept the potion hidden because he didn't trust the kidnappers. He also tells the guards that he will give them a chance after they are kidnapped, but he doesn't want to be dishonest.
