In this chapter, we learn that the north star deity has visited the temple many times in the past, but none of these visits have been as successful as the one we've just witnessed. We learn that some pilgrims have been disguised as "uncle's men" and that the temple is surrounded by "his lackeys" . The men decide to go ahead and steal some items from the Buddha's temple, but they'll use "spells" to do it without the deity knowing about it.
