About This Chapter
The narrator tells us that he's not sure what to do with himself. He wants to go to the police, but he doesn't want to tell them what's going on. He says he'll take care of the rest himself. The narrator says he never thought he'd be good enough to be his tutor. When he first met him, he told him about books. He said that he liked what he liked, even if people didn't like him. He's never met anyone like that before. He thinks that's the way he feels. He tries to stay in his box of lessons, but can't figure out how to keep up with the piano. He starts to think that he has been forcing himself to do things that he wouldn't be able to do if he were his own person. He asks the narrator to write a message for him to say to the guy. He suggests that they set up a shrine on the top of a tower in the center of town and hang pictures from the roof. They could also take pictures of the river and place them on a portable shrine.
