In this chapter, we learn that the protagonist of the novel is a middle-aged girl who lives in a small town in northeastern Japan. The girl, however, is not only active in her school, but also a high-ranking member of the society. The protagonist tells the newspaper that the girl's "flesh and blood" are turning into "energy" and "my macao i-ni eat you" , but she is not good with "livers" because they are poisonous. She tells the reporter that she knows the place where the girl was found, and that if she were to get injured, she would not need him to remind her to be "careful" of her body. The reporter asks the protagonist why he is in Japan, and the protagonist tells him that he is there because he wants to handle the situation better.
