In this chapter, we learn that the protagonist's name is "Tang wulin" and that he is a student at the school of "Mung chen." He is upset that his teacher, whom he calls "teacher," has sent his student's disciple, "Tiong wulin," to "obstinate" him. He is also upset that he has not been given a formal disciple to look after him when he is old and frail. He tells his teacher that he does not need a disciple, as he has been alone his entire life. He also tells him that his big brother, "big brother" , is not interested in him, and that the secret he kept from him was that he had proposed to him many years ago, but that he was not interested. He then tells him about his uncle, "icon zhenhua," who is his martial uncle and who has invited him to dinner.
