In this chapter, we learn that Valeria's mother has a physical disability that makes her wheelchair-bound. One day, she brings her mother's lunchbox to school and is called a "child of a monster" by her classmates because of her disability. Valeria tries to convince her classmates that her mother is not a monster, but she misses out on the rest of the story.
