The narrator tells us that he's not sure where he came from, but he does know that it's "really messed up" . He's also not sure why his dad is always pushing him away from him. He doesn't want to repeat his dad's mistakes, he says, so he won't be repeating his father's mis-takings. He wants to know why his father is always making blind dates with girls who aren't suited to his tastes. The narrator asks why, and the dad says that he just wants to get to know the girls before he starts making love to them.
