About This Chapter
When the narrator tells his father that he's leaving, his father tells him that it's because he doesn't want him to go on his own. The narrator says that his parents divorced when he was young, so his father left him with his uncle. When the uncle left, the narrator says, his parents were like brothers to him. But when the uncle went off to work, he left the narrator with his father. When he was a young man, the uncle's parents divorced, and the narrator's father went to live with his cousin. The uncle left the young narrator with him because he was too young to care for the young man. The young narrator tells the father that the doctor told him that the boy's leg was "sorry" , and that he should have left the boy alone. The father tells the narrator that he thinks the uncle has gone too far, because he keeps things to himself and never tells him anything unless he asks him. He says that the only thing that hurt him the most was that he didn't get a single call from the uncle when he wanted to. He wants to know why he hasn't been able to get in touch with him, and he asks the father to look at his phone and see if he called the wrong number.
