In this chapter, we're introduced to a new character, a robot named "San." He's the kind of robot who's super-annoyed when he hears a girl's name called "Harlequin." He wants to know what's wrong with her, but he can't figure out why she's so afraid of him. He tells her that he's a robot, and that she shouldn't be afraid of robots. He also tells her to stop being so scared of him, because robots are just like humans, and they need to stop getting too attached to each other. San tries to calm him down by reminding him that robots need to be reminded of their needs, not to get attached to people in the world. He tries to get him to stop thinking about Harlequin, but the robot won't listen. Finally, he tells him that if he were to kill the girl now, he'd hurt his pride a little, but that's it. He'll give him a hand, though, and he'll tell him to tear off his attachment to the girl. He says that he can barely remember her face anymore, and if he dies, she'll have to go back to heaven. He apologizes for ruining her life, and says he knows how to get to heaven, so let's all go home. He can barely recognize her face, and she begs him not to kill her. He doesn't know what to do, and so he begs her to forget him. She says that she almost had him for a woman
