About This Chapter
One hour before the arrival of the young master, the narrator reflects on his first encounter with Luo. He is surprised to find that he is rich and arrogant. He thinks that the new student, named Qinhao, is a match for him because he wears designer clothes and is said to have a limousine for taking him from school to and from there every day. The narrator thinks that he will easily let the student give in, thinking that the student is nothing but "nothing but rich." The narrator realizes that he did not make friends at the beginning of the school year because he was alone all day and he wanted to be "like this until graduation." When he hears that the rich student is named "Qinhao," the narrator decides to help him. He tells the narrator to buy him a coke later, thinking it will make him look more pleasing to the new master. When the narrator tells the story of how he and Luo became friends, he hints that the narrator will be able to tell the story later.
