The chapter opens with a description of the situation in Krook's Island, which has been "overwhelmed by killers" . Krook explains that he has to go to Krook Island to find his sister, who is the only family he has left there. He says that the killers have overrun the island, and that he is thankful that he and his family are still alive. He adds that the peninsula is the same in both Krook and ipoh, and he says that he thinks help will arrive soon. He tells his friend that they have found sean, who has been kidnapped, tied up in the boot of a car, and is not aware of what is going on. He explains that the pirates think they have the power to do whatever they want because of the money they have, but doctors are not like that, because they are not able to do anything for the patients they treat. He has a patient who has a heart condition that causes her heart to pump blood all over her body, but she is too weak to do so. The doctor falls in love with the patient, and the head of the hospital tells him that he will be disciplined if he takes the patient out without the permission of the head doctor. The head doctor is afraid that what he does will cause the hospital to look bad, and so he is afraid to take her out without permission. The patient's positive attitude vanishes, and Krook is left without a fiancee.
