In this chapter, we learn that Charles's brother, Nemo, has been killed in the line of duty. Nemo's death is the result of a nerve gas attack, which was conducted on five test subjects. Four of the subjects are still alive, but all of them have been stripped of their flesh and muscle. After the test is over, Nemo goes to the hospital to retrieve his brother. When he arrives, he finds that the police have surrounded the hospital and are arresting Charles.
