This is the second part of the story, which is set in the kingdom of Mithilla. In the first part, we learn that the kingdom's peace envoys have never returned from the "barbarians" of the region, and that they are enemies of the kingdom. In this second part, Caius Martius tells us that he has made up his mind to attack the region and conquer it, but the kingdom will not allow him to do so. He tells his servant, Rama, that he will name him as his successor.
