In this chapter, we meet a new member of the fairy tail team, a police officer named Mavis. She's excited to be a part of the team, but she's worried that the boss isn't with them yet, so she asks the captain to show her the ropes. The captain shows Mavis the ropes, and Mavis is all, "Oh, yeah, I'm a rookie." The captain says that he'll leave Mavis to her own devices, but that's okay, because he's got other officers on the beat. Mavis says that she still thinks the police department is weird, but the captain reassures her by saying that they've got a lot of other officers out on patrol, so they should just go out and do their job. He says that Mavis still thinks that the department is a bunch of "weird" people, so he'd like to test her on how fast she can go. Just then, the captain gets a call that a suspicious person was spotted in a park, and he rushes out to investigate. He doesn't find anything suspicious, but Mavis can't help but feel like she has to show off her new skills. She tells the captain that she was already on patrol when she got the call, but now she'll have to prove that she can do it on her own. She and the captain run off to grab some food, and then the captain tells Mavis that the police team is "a bit peculiar," but that they are very reliable. The Captain says that the team is full of interesting people, and that he already knew this because he saw them on the street. He asks Mavis if they're trapped in the tunnel, and she says no, but then she realizes that the tunnel is actually a cave.
