About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a soliloquy about how to remove the soul of someone who is attracted to someone else's soul. In other words, the person who loves the most is the one who gets to carry the soul. The narrator explains that the soul that is removed from the holder of that person's body is then attracted to the object of his or her affection, and the soul emerges from that object. The person who feels the most strongly about the object is then the one to whom the soul is removed. In this case, the protagonist is the protagonist. The protagonist explains that he loves the protagonist so much that he is willing to sacrifice his soul in order to win her love. He is determined to do so today. He tells the protagonist that he will try to make the protagonist think more of him, so that the protagonist will not be able to have his way with the protagonist's feelings. He says that if the protagonist does this, then he will also try to show the protagonist how much he loves her. He will use this information as a reference to help him find the object he is looking for, and he will use it as a way to help the protagonist look for the object she is trying to find
