The narrator arrives at work and is greeted by the sound of someone's voice. It's not keisuke, it's his son, who has just returned from a trip to Japan. The narrator is bummed that he's missed the chance to meet his new boss. He's also bummed that his son isn't with him at work, because he was supposed to meet him in the middle of the night. The chatter on the other end of the phone tells the narrator that his father is an American and that he has been studying Japanese in order to get a better understanding of the country's culture. The conversation turns to an advertisement for a cosmetic product that's on sale in the marketplace. The man in the ad is wearing a mask, and the narrator assumes that the mask belongs to him. He also notes that the advertisement is from a company selling condoms, which is also on sale, and that the man is wearing the mask as a gift from the company. The woman in the advertisement asks the narrator where she can find her wallet, and she says that she's found it in the company's offices. She also finds a bunch of other things in the office, including an e-mail from her boss.
