In this chapter, the reader is introduced to the protagonist and his assistant, who are both students at the same university. The protagonist asks the assistant where his sister is, and the assistant replies that she is walking in the dark in the same place where her sister was killed. The two students discuss the use of the eye of Diomedes to track down the missing girl, and they decide to kill both of them.
