The narrator wakes up in the middle of the night. He's been drinking heavily and is worried that he's going to catch a cold. He tries to convince himself that it's just a cold, but he can't get it out of his head. He wakes up with a headache and a sore throat. He asks the doctor if he can go to sleep. The doctor tells him to go to bed, but the narrator doesn't want to go, so he goes to sleep
