In this chapter, we learn the story of a thirty-year-old man who has come to live with his sister and brother-in-law. He is a bachelor, and his sister is a law student. The two of them are surprised to find that the man they thought they knew is actually a ghost. The ghost tells them that he came to see them because he wanted to tell them that they were in love. The sister tells the ghost that her brother is a coward, and that he is jealous of her family's love for him. She says that the most important thing about the ghost is that he loves his family.
