In this chapter, we learn that twelve years have passed since the beginning of the novel, and that Jonathan Lee has graduated from college. He has received many love letters from his crush, whom he calls "xu youjia," whom he describes as "19 years old . . the girl he's had an obsession with since third grade" . He asks her to listen to a song he has written for her, and she agrees to listen. He tells her to stay away from his sister, who has fallen ill and needs his help with her homework.
