Chapter 27 opens with a soliloquy by Cai Ming--"you loved me" . He tells Cai that he drank too much the night before, and that he didn't pick up the phone because he was drunk. Cai Ming tells him that he was at a friend's house, but Cai Ming doesn't believe him. He's worried that Cai Ming's mother will misunderstand him. The next day, Cai Ming marries Cai Ming, and they are married a month later.
