He tells them that he does not know the answers to the exam that is to be given today, so he wants to ask them to help him with his studies. He complains that they are the worst students he has ever taught, and that they have the second-lowest average in the class. He says that being rejected by someone is worse than passing a test on a math exam, because the person who is rejected by him is the one who has the highest average in his class. The chapter ends with a description of the holiday that is being celebrated the next day, and the two students go to the bookstore to buy books. They are interrupted by the entrance of a mermaid in the aquarium, and they decide to take a picture of her.
