In this chapter, we learn that the "Swish" is trying to find a secluded place to meditate, but the Elders have forbidden him to do so. He tries to explain that he came to the place because he was afraid that they would disturb him, but they refuse to let him go. The Elders explain that they have created a barrier between them and the light, which only a person who reaches god's level can use. The light, they say, is the "sacred sword of light" , and they must block it.
