In this chapter, we are introduced to the narrator and his fiancee, who are engaged in a "fake marriage." The two of them discuss the fact that their boss is leaving early to pick up his son and daughter-in-law. The narrator is happy that his son is doing well at school and that his boss is working harder than ever. He thanks his fiancee for coming to pick him up, and she thanks him as well for his hard work.
