In this chapter, we learn that we're in the middle of a "fake marriage" with our boss, who we'll call "Mr. Udolpho." The two of them are having a "barbecue as a reward for winning a competition" . Shmoop introduces us to "Shirane," who's just been hanging out with his boss and his kid. He's got a question for his boss: Did you see him walking with one of the other guys in the crowd? Um, yes, we saw him with a kid. Um, we didn't see him with the other guy, but we did see the guy with the kid. Hmm...what's up with that? It turns out that the kid was "someone like" Mr. Ulloa , and Shmooper isn't sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. He doesn't think that Ulloa would be a great husband, but he does think that he would be "annoying" and "obsolete" , since he's "super old- fashioned" and a "really domi-neering husband." Uh-oh. Shmoopers on and on about how cute the kid is and how she's going to introduce him to her boyfriend the next time they see each other. Uh, no worries. Shmoper is all, "I'm sure you'd like to introduce me to my boyfriend next time, but it's too complicated for me to make up my mind right now" ; he'll have to wait six months before he can make up his mind about it.
