In this chapter, we are introduced to Mr. Hayato, the boss of a hotel in Paris. We are told that he is a " glittering boss" and that he asks his employees to tell him what their "favorite position" is. He asks one of his employees, Mr. Honjou, if he has ever been involved in such a large-scale project. Mr. honjou tells him that he has been working for Hayato for a while, and that they have started working together on a project. He says that Hayato does not care whether the other employees are below him or above him, because he will "go af ter" them regardless. He adds that he thinks Hayato's "one of his strengths" is his "impressive" and "irritating" nature. He also says that the boss seems perturbed by Hayato either because he is "a woman changed him" or because Hayato seems to be perturbed by a woman.
