The next morning, the Governess wakes up and asks where her son is. The Governess tells her that the fire alarm went off that night, and she grabbed her son in her arms and tried to help him escape. A couple of men broke into the house and ran inside, but she was too weak to fight them. Before she fainted, she heard two men discussing the giving of the baby to one of the men.
