The narrator introduces us to his new wife, Fang, and his new student, Shuyin. He introduces her as the last student he ever took in, and she is the prodigy of finance at the school. She is the last person he took in when he was a professor. He apologizes for not being able to help her before. He says that he used to help Shuyin all the time when he could not see anything, and that Fang is giving him a sense of safety. He asks if they are moving into the neighborhood, and Fang says yes. He and Shuyin go inside to unpack their things. Shuyin asks if he can start cooking for his dinner, and he says he will pay for it by helping his wife unpack. He tells her to come if she wants, but he is not sure that he will always have the time to cook
