This chapter opens with a discussion of the importance of the "integrated spirit realm" in the ancient Chinese system of martial arts. It is implied that the "spirit realm" is a place where the followers of different sects can meet and practice their art. In this chapter, we are introduced to the "four-syllable" disciple of the wushu sword sect, Mingze. Mingze has wounded one of the disciples of another sect, the mo family, and Mingze is now in danger of being killed if he does not leave the city immediately. He tells Mingze that he will take care of Mingze during this time, and he promises to protect her in the future.
