The chapter opens with a discussion between the gang leader and the society leader. The gang leader tells the leader that he has come to search for the killer. He tells him that the wound on Mr. Zhang's body is the result of a left-handed sword. The society leader points out that it's obvious that the killer is a right-handed man. The leader says that he's the only one in the whole of the prefecture who can play left-hand swordplay. He also says that the other gang members can tell the difference between a right and a left handed sword. They can also see that the left- handed sword is sharper than the right-hand one. The two men discuss whether or not they're detectives or captor of six doors. The captain of the gang tells the captain that he killed the man to silence him, but the captain says that his weak subordinates can't defeat masters in their innate realm. He points to a piece of paper that seems to be made of green bamboo from a bamboo hill in Haizhou. He says that it must have been carefully made. He then asks why the man left such a valuable piece of evidence on the body of a man who's supposed to be in charge of the changning of the city. He asks the captain why he didn't leave the paper there, and the captain answers that the man is in control of the town's business.
