Raina's mother, Mrs. Brandon, shows up at the house. She's here to talk to her daughter, but she doesn't want to see her when she's home. She wants to know what's going on with her daughter. She tells annie that she'd like to send her daughter to him as a "pet lover" . Annie's response is that there's "nothing good about her except that she was pretty" , and that she would be ashamed to give her such a daughter, since she was "trampling" and "bullying" her brother and sister when she was younger. Mrs. Brandson is shocked that they're planning to disown Raina, and she tells them to go ahead and do it.
