In this chapter, we learn more about Raina's pregnancy and her relationship with William Brandon. We also learn that she is pregnant with his child, and that she has accepted an interview with a gossip magazine. We learn that the Annines, the family of William's father, have played a game with Raina, and have sent her to throw the baby away in order to gain favor with the father. Raina tells us that she does not blame her aunt for ruining her reputation. She blames her mother for not protecting her, and she blames Raina for slandering her. She asks her father if he is okay, and he tells her that he will be back in an hour.
