About This Chapter
In this chapter, we're introduced to a new character, who's just been invited to fight in a giant battle arena. He's super stoked to be fighting in such a big arena, but he's also a little worried about how he'll fare in the real-life combat. First off, he says, he doesn't want to die in this arena, because it's so much fun. Next, he compares this arena to a giant chessboard, where each team has a set number of chess pieces to play with. He compares this to a battle arena, where you have to play by the rules of chess, not by the random rules of the chessboard. He also compares this battle arena to the real world, where he has to fight by the same rules as everyone else in the arena. Finally, he gets to the point, and says, "I fought this much, and I seriously only went down two levels" . That's right, he went down by two levels in the actual battle arena , which means that he only had to fight one monster to make it to the next level. This is kind of weird, but it works.
