About This Chapter
In this short scene, the protagonist, Shmoop, thanks the evil god for making him the hero of the game. He's a second-year student in high school, and he's been playing the game for a while now. He wishes he could go back to high school and have a girl crush on him, but he can't figure out what else to do with his life now that he has beaten the first boss. He curses the game's heroine for refusing to advance the plot, and curses himself for not being able to find a better game to play now that the heroine has refused to advance her story. The protagonist says that he'll never play the game again, because the story is too long, and the heroine refuses to advance it. He says that the only thing he can think of to do now is to sell his weapons and armor, which he can do by entering his player's name in the "sunraku" link in the prologue. He can sell his equipment starting during character creation, and then he can start playing again. He wants to map out the forest so that the first town east of him is in the forest. He also wants to check out the mercenary twin swords, because they're so much better than the ones in the armor. He compares them to the ancient days of the frontier, when they lived in a "divine era" . He notes that they don't drop any weapons, but that he wishes he had one of theirs. He doesn't know how to use the screw pierce, because it's so powerful, but it adds a bonus to critical damage. He thinks that he might be able to use it in the future, but right now, the monsters around him are too powerful for him to use them. He tells us that he still hasn't beaten a single monster in the game, and that he thinks the next big update will introduce a new way to defeat them.
