In this chapter, Caio tells the story of his transformation into a cat. He explains that he is a normal human being and that he needs to be awakened from his sleep so that he can go to the "sacred spring" mentioned in the Book of Common Prayer. He tells Caio that he will always follow him. Caio wonders why Caio is still asleep three days after his awakening. He says that Caio has been sleeping soundly for the past week and that his powers are not stable. He asks Caio if he is sure that he has just awakened and that the dark body has taken advantage of his sleep.
