In this short scene, we learn that the Governess is in love with a young man. The Governess's heart is beating so fast that she actually wants to kiss the young man, but she can't find the right words to express her love for him. She goes out to get some fresh air, but it's too late. When she returns, she finds out that her sister is having an affair with the man she's just kissed.
