The scene opens with the famous director, the playwright, the famous actor, the killer sigh, and the narrator all in one room. The director tells the narrator that the play is going to be performed the next day. The narrator complains that the actor's nose is bleeding, and he can't figure out a way to remove it. He also complains about the fact that the director's shoes don't match his. He says that the shoes look like the shoes he was wearing earlier in the day, and that he was going to leave the theater with them on, but he didn't notice the difference.
