About This Chapter
The next morning, the new detective has only just started his job and has barely slept the night before. He asks watson if his wife often comes home late, and watson replies that she would not be suspicious if he acted too calmly. He says that he will be going to the alley to dispose of the body of his mother, who he thinks is even heavier than a corpse. He then tells his friend that he has just been assigned a patrol officer and that he and his friend went to school together. He tells watson that he is a new detective and that his grandfather was a police chief's grandson. The new detective is excited to be working for a police family, but watson warns him that they already work him like a dog and that their greatest fear is coming to pass.
