About This Chapter
Even if he's pretty, the new mayor says, he doesn't care what people think of him. He's just trying to do his job. He asks his secretary to bring him coffee so he can start the interview. The new mayor tells his secretary that he just wanted to thank her for coming. He tells her that he'd like to know what's wrong with the kid. The mayor says that the kid's got no makeup on his face. He also says that people don't like him because he looks too pretty. He says that he was unhappy with how the previous mayor ran things. The real game is about to begin, he says, and he wants to make sure that everyone likes him. The rain has stopped, and the kid looks like he'll take an umbrella out of the rain by mistake. He points out that he can find one like that anywhere, but if he points it out now, it might bite him later. He thinks that the mayor is hiding something. The man who kicked him was in the mayor's office, he thinks, and she invited the man to sit on the sofa and drink coffee. He believes that the man must have been someone who visited her office.
