About This Chapter
"calm down" , says Lockwood. He's not worried about the kid, but he's sure that the girl is "almost certainly our killer" . Lockwood tells us that he has no evidence against the girl, but that she's been acting "unnaturally" in the past. For example, he points out that there's no lipstick on her desk, but today she had a cup with a "obvious lipstick mark" on it. Lockwood thinks it's likely that she hid it because she had seen a visitor. He also says that the mayor had tried to cover it up by pretending to be an electrician, but the other man caught him and killed him. Lockwood wonders why the mayor has been sitting on the sofa when they've been there, but Lockwood says he can't figure out what it is. He thinks it must have something to do with the high air conditioning in the apartment. Lockwood says that he'd like to hear more about it, too, but she'll have to wait until she gets back from her errands. Lockwood asks if there were any other visitors that day, and Lockwood says there were, but there weren't enough to keep track of. He asks Lockwood if he can write an article for the newspaper about the incident, which he thinks would be a good idea. Lockwood admits that he doesn't know how to do it, but asks Lockwood to ask airin to help them. Lockwood starts to think that this might be a bad idea, because the mayor is acting like a "sherdog."
