About This Chapter
"Sherdog" tells the story of how Hiroshi hit his golf ball into the trees, and then Hiroshi's father hit the same golf ball from behind. Hiroshi thought he was safe, and he was walking along the fairway when he heard the noise of the ball hitting the trees. He thought it would be a good idea to cover his head in case the ball hit a tree, but he didn't know how to do so. He wonders if the noise would still be audible if the ball bounced off the tree, and if it could still stop a person's heart. Sherdog thinks it's too bad that Hiroshi is being badgered by the police, because he dropped out of medical school to pursue his dream of becoming a doctor. He's also worried about his dog, who keeps coming after him. He doesn't want to be found guilty, he says, because there's only one truth: Hiroshi would have hit the ball into a tree. The only reason Hiroshi could have foreseen this was because Hiroshi was playing in the woods, and Hiroshi wanted to ambush Hiroshi. He pretended to be looking for his ball, but in reality he wanted to kill Hiroshi so he could run in and get Hiroshi before he could kill him.
