The next morning, the two men discuss the possibility of a duel between the two of them. The two men decide that the best thing to do is to get Eve to matchmake with the knight commander, so that they can have a happy ending. Eve, however, is not so sure. She tells the men that she is cold, and that she feels like she is "crumpling" at the touch of her master's hand. She says that she wishes she could bear the suffering for her master, but she feels stronger than she expected. She promises to be gentler the next time she meets the knight.
