In this chapter, we learn that Lady Campbell is sick and needs to be cooled down. We learn that the Knight Templar's trial is a three-year process in which thousands of people attempt to become a knight. The chance of succeeding in the trial is one-fifth of those who take the test, and those who pass are eligible to receive a pension from the Templars. The only person who failed to pass the trial was the Knight Commander, who is said to be the strongest and most courageous of the knights.
