Emelina wakes up from her trance to find a bug tree in the middle of the cave. It's the queen bug, and it's been feasting on her for the past few days. The queen bug only lays eggs, so it doesn't kill Emelina, but she's still in danger. The bug tree is composed of countless other insects, and after it releases its pheromones, the insects fall into a "trance" and share the food with the queen. During her "spawning" period, the queen will lay eggs in the prey, and the prey will let the queen feed its offspring before dispersing the eggs. Luckily, Emelina isn't in danger right now, because the queen is still in her spawning period. Emelina asks where they're going, but the bug tree won't let them go. They head back to the camp, but they can't find the queen because she hasn't laid any eggs.
