The narrator tells us that he's been the most affected by all of the strange things that have been happening in the city. He says that he can't figure out what happened to his beloved boss, but he does know that he was the one who was most affected. The narrator says that today at the pancake museum, they have a new item on display. It's a shoe that was supposed to be a part of a dowry for a bride to marry, but the bride ran away on her wedding day, so they don't want anything to do with relics like that. He wonders why the bride hasn't asked him for help yet, and wonders if she thinks he refused because he didn't respond to her request. He asks the inspector if anyone can go investigate the disappearance of the shoe, and the inspector says he'll go after it.
