In this chapter, the protagonist introduces himself as "mianshen" , an "intern" for search-and-rescue of the world. He explains that the world of life, death, and soul is "separate dimensions" and that good kids should move to a better place. He tells the protagonist's mother that if she doesn't have a brother, she can call him "big brother" . The protagonist says that even if he becomes a policeman, he can still protect one person.
