About This Chapter
The Governess tells Lockwood that she wishes Lockwood could be a normal student. She tells him to be careful around the prison, because there will be bad guys there. Lockwood says that he's going to go to see his grandfather and then he'll tear the prison down. Lockwood tells the Governess to knock on the door whenever he hears her knocking. He tells her to make sure that she doesn't leave the door open so that a bad guy can get in. He also tells her that she's not allowed to leave the prison for two days, so she'll have to stay home and tutor Lockwood. Lockwood wants to know what the authorities are planning to do with Lockwood, so he begs her to help him serve his sentence. She says that Lockwood's cell is the best cell in the prison because it has a toilet and a sink next to it. The other inmates stay in eight-cell cells. Lockwood gets to stay in his cell for a week.
